Our Products are 100% petrochemical-free
Centuries of post-industrial development have left fossil fuels and their derivatives almost inextricably wedded to all sectors and the modern food industry is no exception. Imagine a world where you can eat a homegrown organic meal knowing that Big Oil touched 0% of the process. Now wouldn’t that be amazing?
Market Info
98% of hydrogen production pathways currently require heavy petrochemical use. Fertilizer production also relies heavily on petrol-derived minerals and GHG-intensive shipping.
In joining this new biobased economy with us, you get to partake in a new system of production that cleans the ocean and is free from centralization and fossil fuel usage. Mother Earth thanks you!
100% Fossil Fuel Free
Imagine a world where you knew your food was nourished straight by what the ocean gave us, having never been touched by petrochemicals or other inequities of Big Agriculture.
Our fertilizer will be processed for heavy metal removal and compliant under fair trade labor laws. ¡Bienvenidos!
Working towards an overlooked U.N. Sustainable Development Goal
The environmental repercussions of allowing a eutrophication-based issue to grow with warming oceans pose a grave threat to UN Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Under Water. By creating a for-profit economy from sargassum you will also be supporting ocean restoration work.
Our work will contribute towards the following SDG 14 subcategories:
14.1 Prevent and Reduce Marine Pollution
ProjectQRSargasso will contribute towards ocean/beach cleanups and complement regional restoration efforts as well as a burgeoning sargassum industry currently limited to small-scale actors.
14.2 Manage and Protect Marine & Coastal Ecosystems
Profits from ProjectQRSargasso will be rerouted into ProjectQRRestore so that we can fund coral restoration work and the planting of coastal green infrastructure “mangroves, seagrass meadows, kelp forests” alongside our coral zones. There is an alkalinic version of our agricultural fertilizer which can effect coral skeleton and coralline algae growth. Testing of this substrate will be done at ProjectQRRestore.
14.7 Increase the economic benefits from sustainable use of marine resources
Finding commercial uses for sargassum as a circular resource will give coastal communities and indigenous peoples a means to become self-sufficient. The world needs low-carbon food production and biofuels more than ever. If we can create a viable sargassum economy in Mexico, green technology will be more accessible.
